Meet the team
I love people and I love bikes. I grew up in the Bay Area and spent a few years living in both Washington and Oregon. Due to my 30 plus years on the West Coast I overuse the word "dude".
Favorite bikes: S-Works Enduro, S-Works Tarmac.
Ride: UC Santa Cruz... or Skeggs... or Demo... or...
Inspired by: I've always found Andrew Shandro inspiring. Not only has he progressed the sport of mountain biking over the past two decades but he seems to genuinely care about giving back to the cycling community.
I really love what I do for a living. I have been working with bikes for the past 15 years, it has largely shaped who I am today and I am extremely grateful for it.
Favorite bike: Specialized Epic, I always seem to go back to it whenever I am looking for a new mountain bike!
Ride: China Camp, never anything but a beautiful ride.
Post-ride: a huge burger and a super cold beer!
Inspired by: Christoph Sauser! He makes World Championships wins look easy.
Working for Cognition since its opening has been great. I've enjoyed working with all the other employees and helping customers with their problems and issues. I enjoy discussing excellent places they can ride and planning future epic customer rides!
Favorite bike: Tandem.
Ride: Montebello Ridge.
Post-ride: brown sugar and cinnamon Pop-Tarts®
Inspired by: Ned Overend - he's older but smokes all the new riders at races.
I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear. I don't perspire, I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. Children trust me.
Favorite bike: An early Steve Potts signature custom.
Ride: Depends on my mood.
Inspired by: Shout out to my Mom and Pop!
The service manager needs to be top-notch! The customers need to have someone who can give the best service, I love my job, and I will give them 100% all the time doing the best I can do.
Favorite bike: Specialized Roubaix.
Ride: Page Mill, Old La Honda, Tunitas, King's Mountain.
Post-ride: pasta and tacos!
Inspired by: P90X's Tony Horton - for making the most out of an hour!
I am the sound behind you. I am the person drafting you. I am the flash of light in your mirror. I am the wind just over your shoulder. I am your shadow. Be faster than me!
Favorite bike: Specialized Sworks Enduro
Ride: Road- OLH/Stage/Tunitas Loop. Mountain - UCSC or Demo Forest.
Post-ride: Burgers and beer.
Inspired by: My Pops - For taking me mountain biking even before I could walk!
I am crafty. I like dogs, I have two at home - they often are Cognition visitors. I think that everything in the world can be solved - or at least improved - by being a nice person.
Favorite bike: Specialized Epic Expert Evo 29er,
Ride: Santa Teresa.
Post-ride: Chipotle steak burrito.
Inspired by: My step-dad, Jim - for his strength in all things physical and mental. Kofi Annan - who has spent 40 years trying to break down racial, political, and social barriers between individuals worldwide. He's not an individual who fights for social change not only for people like him, but for all.
